This represents another operating mode with TransLT through which you can draw graphic entities (polygons, paths or points) in Google Earth.
-
The program for drawing in Google Earth can be started as follows:
- By selecting from the TransLT menu, installed in Windows, "Draw in Google Earth" or by using the icon "TransLT Draw in Google Earth" installed on desktop;
- By clicking on the button "Draw points in Google Earth" which is at the table with the output data from the section Universal Transformations. This button becomes active only if a transformation model that has as initial or final coordinate system the type of geographic coordinates is selected;
- By using in the CAD environment the command GEdraw from the TopoLT software (starting from version 10.1), another product of our company, to draw AutoCAD entities in Google Earth. The operation of this command in TopoLT up to version 10.5 requires the installing the TransLT program.
To view you must have Google Earth installed, otherwise you can just save the data in csv files (TransLT format), xml files (Extensible Markup Language file), kml file (Google Earth format) or kmz files (compressed Google Earth format).
The description of the settings that apply when drawing all entities can be found at Options - Google Earth drawings Tab.
General
Place name
Introduce the name of the place, text that is used to identify the file loaded in Google Earth in the folder Temporary Places.
Entities
Multiple selections can be made in the list of existing entities to simultaneously modify their properties.
Entities can be copied to the Clipboard, deleted from the list, or inserted from the Clipboard in the list by using the contextual menu that is right-clicked with the mouse inside the box.
Button Add an entity
By clicking on this button you add in the list a new entity of the last selected entity type. The entity's color is given by the last color defined by the user.
Button Delete selected entities
By clicking on this button you delete from the list the selected entities. Delete confirmation is required for this operation.
Button Move up selected entity
By clicking on this button the selected entity is moved up with one position in the list to change the order of the entities from the list.
Button Move down selected entity
By clicking on this button the selected entity is moved down with one position in the list to change the order of the entities from the list.
Button Search the specified text in in the entities list
The text is searched for every item of the entity list.
Button Selecting entities
By using the displayed menu, only entities with type polygon, path, points group or entities name that contain a specific text, can be selected from the list of entities.
Button Load from file
It loads from the csv file (TransLT format) the list with entities. The accepted csv file contains identification lines for: the name of the place (PLACES_NAME), polygon (ENT_POLYGON), path (ENT_PATHLIN) and points group (ENT_GRP_PTS). If the file does not contain identification lines, the points from the file are considered to be a group of points.
Button Save to file
It saves the entities list in csv file (TransLT format), kml file (Google Earth format) or kmz file (compressed Google Earth format). The files saved with the extension kml or kmz can be loaded in Google Earth by opening them from Windows Explorer or they can be mailed to other persons.
Button Delete all
It clears the entities list; delete confirmation is requested for this operation.
Button Draw in Google Earth
It opens the program Google Earth and displays all the entities from the list.
In this box there is presented information regarding the entity that was selected from the list.
Type
Choose the entity’s type: polygon, path or points group.
-
For polygons the following information can be introduced:
- Number - land register’s number or an identification number;
- Description - owner’s name or a description of the polygon;
- Area - the value of polygon’s area;
- Perimeter - the value of polygon’s perimeter.
-
For path the following information can be introduced:
- Starting text - label with the text of the starting point of the path; if this text is not introduced this label will not be displayed in Google Earth;
- Ending text - label with the text of the ending point of the path; if this text is not introduced this label will not be displayed in Google Earth;
- Length - the value of path’s length.
-
For points group the following information can be introduced:
- Group name - the name of points group;
- Description - job’s name or description of points group.
Icon
Pick from list the icon that will be displayed for all the points of points group.
Color
It sets the filling color for polygons or points and for paths it sets the color of the lines.
The last color and opacity defined by the user are used to generate any new entity.
Opacity
It sets the value in percentages of opacity. This value specifies how transparent the entity is as compared to the underlying image.
Line width
Introduce the value in pixels of lines width for polygons or paths.
Display information about the entity in the balloon description
It selects if for the selected entity is displayed or not additional information about it. This information is displayed in Google Earth when you click with the mouse inside the entity or when entity is selected from the list of locations. Information is displayed in Google Earth in a box (balloon description).
-
In the balloon description the following information can be added:
- Number, Start or Group Name as the polygon, path or points group entity is defined;
- Description or End as the polygon, path or points group entity is defined;
- Area if the entity is of polygon type;
- Perimeter or Length if the entity is a polygon or a path;
- Address;
- Destination;
- Usage;
- URL Link which is defined by name and address.
Button Balloon description preview
To preview this balloon description as it will be shown in Google Earth you can use this button.
Note: If you want the text to be displayed on multiple lines (for example for a very long address), you must insert <BR> in the text where you want to move to the next line.
Geographic coordinates on the ellipsoid „WGS84”, Prime Meridian „Greenwich”
In the table the coordinates can be entered manually, loaded from a file or copied from another table. The coordinates from the table can be saved to a file or can be exported to Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. The description of the buttons and of the contextual menu of tables can be found at The commands of the coordinate tables.
When manually inputting of the coordinates, the separating character for the angles in sexagesimal degrees can be any of the characters used for the identification of the degrees, minutes or seconds or, you can use the space key to automatically introduce it.
For polygons it is not necessary for the final point to be identical with the first one to close the polygon.
